In these states, the "thinking" part of your brain (the prefrontal cortex) literally loses power. Blood flows away from your logic centers and toward your muscles and survival centers.
This is why you can’t "think" your way out of a panic attack or "logic" your way out of burnout. Your body is screaming that it’s not safe, and your mind is just along for the ride. To find real nervous system health, you have to work from the bottom up, body first, mind second.

Understanding Your Internal Operating System
Your nervous system is constantly scanning the environment for cues of safety or danger. This process is called neuroception. It happens below the level of conscious thought.
If your system is dysregulated, it’s like having a smoke detector that goes off every time you make toast. You’re not actually in danger, but your body feels like it is. This chronic state of "high alert" leads to:
