When you’re regulated:

  • Decision-making is sharp: You don't get bogged down in analysis paralysis.
  • Creativity is fluid: You see connections and solutions that others miss.
  • Energy is sustainable: You aren't running on adrenaline (which eventually leads to a crash).

Contrast that with the Sympathetic (fight-or-flight) state. This is where most leaders live. It’s effective for short bursts of "running from a tiger," but it’s toxic for long-term leadership. In this state, you’re reactive, short-tempered, and constantly scanning for threats. You aren’t leading; you’re just surviving.
