92: State Awareness NOT State Change

You don’t need to fix yourself, just observe.

The new thing for coaches and mentors to say is that you need to shift your mindset. We’ve discovered recently that that’s just not true.

When you shift your mindset you’re avoiding the problem. It’s just going to come back to you, and probably even worse than before.

Instead of thinking of it as shifting your mind, think of it as being aware of your mindset. There’s programming in you that you can’t get rid of. If it comes back, you’re just going to get angry.

Instead notice when these thoughts and emotions come up. Let them, observe them. Embrace them, but don’t react to them. Then analyze where they are coming from. You may be surprised what you find out about yourself.
