Are you struggling to do it all yourself? Then it’s time to hire someone!

It’s something every business owner struggles with at first. We think we can do it all, and we’re afraid to give up control.

The truth is you need to let someone else handle things. It’s not a cost, it’s an investment. By bringing someone on at a rate that’s much lower than what your hourly rate is worth, that means you can grow the business twice as much.

One thing we worry about is not finding the right person, and having to replace them. That’s ok – but it can be avoided. When you look for an employee, you have to make sure you are clear on exactly what you want. Think about their duties, their responsibilities, and exactly what a typical work day will look like for them.

As you’re thinking about this understand that no one can do everything. Don’t hire on a marketing person and expect them to balance your budget. Find someone with a specialty, and make sure they focus on that one thing. That’ll ensure your business excels in that area.

My last tip is this – don’t hire someone like you. Hire someone that is the opposite of you. They will be able to make up for your weaknesses, and help to balance you out.
