Everyone wants to be productive. We like to get as many things as we can done in a day. It makes us feel better, and it feels like we’ve accomplished something.

Unfortunately that’s not always the case. When it comes down to it, productivity is making us less efficient. We end up putting off bigger projects to accomplish smaller tasks.

Don’t look at it as if you need to be productive. You need to be efficient. That to do list that’s a mile long is slowing you down, not helping you achieve your goals.

If you really want to be successful, don’t  just try to get things done. Try to get the right things done. Look at what’s important, prioritize those, and get rid of the rest of your list.

Don’t try to do more than three things in a day. You’re going to get overwhelmed, and end up putting it all off.

  • Even the best professionals work on more than they should be.
  • Don’t create to do lists, they will make your feel overwhelmed.
  • Don’t try to be productive, try to be effective.
  • Your brain releases dopamine when you finish things.
  • Don’t make promises for people, break them, then blame other people.
  • Don’t try to be productive, try to be effective.
  • Limit your list, do just 3 things a day.
  • No one is actually good at multitasking, even if they believe they are.
  • Context switching is different than multitasking.
  • With multitasking and context switching, we are only 8% effective.
  • You will burn out instantly if you try to do 8 hours of constant focus.
    • You need breaks for your brain to relax and repair.
  • Work for 25 minutes, rest for 5 minutes.
  • You can’t finish everything all the time.
  • Make sure your goals aren’t too big – split them into smaller workflow.
  • When we start a task, we don’t stop thinking about that task.
