101: James Swanwick: Respect the Entire Journey

“It’s not always a fear of failure. Sometimes it’s a fear of success.”

How many times do you find yourself feeling upset with where you are? Feeling like you’re a loser, or not where you expected to be in life? You’re not alone.

It’s natural. We all obsess over the end goal.

On this episode of Have It All we are joined by one of my favorite entrepreneurs, James Swanwick.

On the surface level, James seems like the perfect success story. He was a TV Show host on ESPN. He started a million dollar company that helps people sleep with his brother. He’s even been a success with the ladies.

In the end, though, even James doubts his successes. He’s gone through many self-imposed transitions in life, and is constantly learning more about himself.

I’m honored to have him on this podcast to open up about what most entrepreneurs are afraid to admit: their downfalls. Together we explore the ways that we aren’t perfect. We take off our masks and expose the truths of this crazy world we live in.

Download this episode today to learn all about the ways we all struggle to get to where we want.

“The only way through a breakthrough is a breakdown.”

The Cliff Notes:

  • Some people’s definition of success can differ from others.
  • Your dreams may not really be your dreams.
  • It’s better to work for yourself than for other people.
  • Your life is constantly full of transitions.
  • Learn to tune in to what really matters, not what your mind thinks it wants.
  • Intuition starts out as a whisper, but will eventually turn into someone on a megaphone.
  • The subconscious mind can sabotage you as well as the conscious mind.
  • It’s almost impossible to have smooth transitions in life.
  • Just because something works for you, it doesn’t mean it’s the best thing.
  • There is no right or wrong, it’s just a bunch of things happening.
  • Always be open to new routines and new processes.
  • Nobody else can make you upset. Nobody else can make you angry. Only you can.
  • Learn to love the negative part of yourself.
  • Trust in the process and let go of the end dream goal.

“Live in a life of appreciation instead of expectation.”
