146: Why Being Yourself is The Answer with Marc Mawhinney

“If you’re not being yourself, it’s going to shine through.” - Marc MawhinneyClick to Tweet

We see successful people everywhere.

Instagram, our Facebook feeds, covers of magazines, the movies—everywhere we turn, there is another ‘successful’ person doing what they do best: being successful.

This constant exposure to their brands and messaging burns images of success into our brains. So when we go to launch our own businesses and brands, we often try to emulate these figures we see on our screens.

That is the mistake.

Your unique voice is the ticket success.

That’s why on today’s episode of Personal Development Without The Fluff, we are joined by the business coach for life coaches—Marc Mawhinney—to discuss how to tap into that unique voice. Regardless of your business or brand, creating marketing messaging that is uniquely yours will help cut through the noise.

Tune in to this conversation to learn how to tap into that point-of-view, so you can separate yourself from the crowd.

The Cliff Notes:

  • Refrain from the get-rich-quick/Internet marketing thinking in the life coach industry.
  • On average, it takes 3 months to set up a solid foundation for a life coach.
  • Be skeptical of certification schools’ emphasis on the art of coaching and not the business of coaching.
  • Ask the foundational questions: Who are you helping and how are you helping.
  • Understand that money is the marker of value.
  • Don’t be afraid to be polarizing in your opinion.
  • Create content in the medium you feel most comfortable with (emails, Facebook Lives, etc.)
  • It’s okay to not know how the skillset you’re practicing is going to enhance everything else.
  • Balance your marketing efforts between organic content creation and paid advertisement.
